“Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.”
~ Philippians 4:5

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
~ Matthew 11:29-30

“Lord Jesus, I have missed You more times than I care to remember. When I have been so infatuated with my own righteousness and holiness (and how much better or wiser or mentally stronger I consider myself than someone else), there I have missed You…totally missed You. I have missed You in the struggling one, in the “strange” one, in the one with problems.
I have been full of a self-righteousness that gathers its skirts together and truly despises the other one. That is hatred. That is sin. Jesus, Lord, have mercy upon me and teach me Your way.
I have hated the sinner…and I am one too.
I have despised the weak and the foolish…and, behold, it is I.
I thought You had “something great” for me, and You had something small, little, lowly and happy.
Lord Jesus, I cannot go back and redo the years and opportunities when I have missed You again and again. I just yield myself into Your hands. I despise my pride and arrogance, my delusions of grandeur, my selfishness.
I would embrace this place…right where You have put me. Lord Jesus, give me Your love to each and every weak and broken and greatly-loved soul You have placed in my life. Lord Jesus, may I love alongside You with Your love; I have no real love of my own.
I have wanted to be something high, when You have wanted me to be something low. Amen. So be it.”
