Let me tell you our latest outdoor adventure. PX is our nature-lover. And this morning she noticed a small moth stuck in the mouth of a small white flower. Ants were beginning to swarm over the poor moth (to eat it?) Anyhow, PX wanted to rescue the moth from this inglorious fate, so she skooched behind the bush with a small pair of scissors. This would put her into position to reach the trapped moth. She snipped off the flower he was on, then plucked the moth free and tosssed it into the air. It’s freedom was short-lived however; I saw it land…in a spider’s web! So I pointed it out to PX saying, “That moth is having a bad day!” Well, she proceeded to rescue it from the web and spider and then gently set it on the ground. She was crouching over it, seeing if it would “perk up” when…peck…snap…gulp! The moth was gone! Our white chicken, Frodo, had just gotten her breakfast! That moth truly had a very bad day! We were uber-surprised and speechless; then we laughed and laughed – more from shock than hilarity – poor moth!

You can’t fight fate. Lovely story.
