Lord Jesus,
               grant me a winter faith
               that looks up to You
               in the chill and in the darkness.
…winter faith.

Lord Jesus,
               grant me a winter hope
               settled in Your promises.
               once vibrant leaves, twigs, petals, blooms
               have fallen to the ground
               and molder.
…winter hope.

Lord Jesus,
               grant me a winter love
               to care for the feeble folk
               open the hand
               scatter a bit
               goodwill in a bitter season.
…winter love.

And so we wait for the winter to pass.
We walk through the winter.
A walk of winter faith.
A walk of winter hope.
A walk of winter love.

Lord Jesus,
               thank You for the winter
               in the round of Your seasons.
               the only way we can pass from winter to spring
               is through resurrection
…and that is totally Your work.
