In the Psalms, King David penned these words: “One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD…”

“to behold the beauty of the LORD…” Have you ever considered that the beauty of the LORD was fully realized and shown forth in a man ~ a human? Is it incredible? Yes, it is incredible, but true. The man was Jesus Christ ~ fully God, and yet fully man. “And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ ” (Matt. 3:17) “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” (Col. 1:15)

And where was He the most beautiful? “And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.” (Matt. 27:31) “I am the good shepherd, the good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. (John 10:11) This man, Jesus, who was unjustly crucified, perfectly showed forth the beauty of the LORD.

O look on Jesus
God is man
And what a man indeed!
The fullness of the Father’s heart
The Son is man, to bear His part
Of life on earth below.

“Belov-ed Son
All Mine, All Mine”
O hear God’s thought declared!
The Perfect Man and emptied He
So we could God Unveil-ed see
In life on earth below.

Delight of God
The Only One
Co-Equal Father’s Son
Crushed and stricken, cursed of God
Our every sin was washed in blood
By Thee, O Christ, By Thee.
