Saturday morning at 5:00 a.m. my daughter came into our bedroom with this whispered intelligence, “Mom, Zoe is throwing up.”

Zoe, is our Sheltie dog. She is sweet-tempered, and is well-loved by our whole family. But now it was early Saturday morning, and she was throwing up.

I didn’t overthink things. I was still coming into consciousness. I mechanically threw my legs over the side of the bed, ready to rise and address the problem.

And here is the reason that I love my husband.

Even before I was fully sitting up, he said, “I’ll take care of it.” He didn’t hesitate. He didn’t groan. And he didn’t turn on the bedside lamp. He rose up. And I?…I sank down into the folds of multiple blankets and went back to sleep.

My unsung hero went about the tasks associated with the situation. I knew nothing. Unsung he was because no one saw him at that hour on a Saturday morning. Hero he is because he did it to spare me. I am very blessed. And this is why I love my husband!
