Our chickens, from left to right: Aragorn, Penguino, Frodo, Fanny

Earlier this week at the dinner table, the talk turned to our pet chickens – it often does. Daughter, PX, who is always singing the praises of her “smart” chicken, Frodo, said, “Mom, Frodo is the only one [of our chickens] who can recite John 3:16 and Romans 3:23!”

Yes, these are Bible verses: Bible verses the girls have worked together memorizing. Evidently they have been teaching their chickens too!

I responded, “That’s because Frodo is the smartest chicken we have.”

PX was satisfied with my recognition of her chicken’s clear superiority. But my other daughter thought differently. She said, “Oh, she’s not that smart. I asked her how to say “blue” in Spanish, and she said, ‘baño’.” (Baño is the Spanish word for bathroom.)

Really!? I don’t think we need television for entertainment; we have two very funny daughters! (And four chickens!)
